The Wheels on the Bus

Lyrics

The wheels on the bus go round and round.

Round and round. Round and round.

The wheels on the bus go round and round.

All day long.

The horn on the bus goes beep, beep, beep.

Beep, beep, beep. Beep, beep, beep.

The horn on the bus goes beep, beep, beep.

All day long.

The wipers on the bus go swish, swish, swish.

Swish, swish, swish. Swish, swish, swish.

The wipers on the bus go swish, swish, swish.

All day long.

The people on the bus go chatter, chatter, chatter.

Chatter, chatter, chatter. Chatter, chatter, chatter.

The people on the bus go chatter, chatter, chatter.

All day long.

The driver on the bus says move on back.

Move on back. Move on back.

The driver on the bus says move on back.

All day long.

The babies on the bus go wah, wah, wah.

Wah, wah, wah. Wah, wah, wah.

The babies on the bus go wah, wah, wah.

All day long.

The parents on the bus say sh, sh, sh.

Sh, sh, sh. Sh, sh, sh.

The parents on the bus say sh, sh, sh.

All day long.

The kids on the bus go up and down.

Up and down. Up and down.

The kids on the bus go up and down.

All day long.

The wheels on the bus go round and round.

Round and round. Round and round.

The wheels on the bus go round and round.

All day long.

boy driving bus

steering wheel

The steering wheel is attached with the brass fastener. The wheels on the bottom of the bus are attached by hot glueing a straw to each wheel. Then cut a hole for the straw to go through and put the straw through. Next add the play dough on the other end of the straw to make a handle. Finally let your child spin the wheel by turning the play dough handle.

An adult should use the box cutter, scissors, and hot glue gun as safety precautions.

Teaching Tip: If you have several children creating this craft, you could act out the song. Add chairs behind the bus cab that was created. Have one child pretend to be the driver, some children pretend to be parents, and other children pretend to be babies and kids. Have children take turns switching parts to practice taking turns.

Teaching Tip: You could talk to older preschoolers about how in our real car, the steering wheel turns the front two wheels on our car. Ask your child how they think that could work. Let your child brainstorm ideas. Give hints if they are frustrated. Explain how it really works. Use this YouTube video, How Vehicle Steering Works by Americas Drivers Ed, if you need help explaining it, or you want to show your child a visual!

Encouragement: "Children are born with all the curiosity they will ever need. It will last a lifetime if they are fed upon a daily diet of ideas." -Charlotte Mason

Great job to all the parents and primary caregivers who play and explore with their children!
